CNC Machining Steel Parts

Steel is an affordable alloy that boasts high tensile strength, composed primarily of iron and carbon.

Its unique combination of properties has led it to become a popular choice across a range of industries, from construction and infrastructure to automotive, nautical, tooling, manufacturing, and defense.

steel is often surface treated, for example galvanized, electrophoresis, blackened, powder coated, because carbon steel is easy to be oxidized and rusted. Carbon steel is often heat treated, for example hardened, or tempered, or annealed, to enhanced the mechanical properties.

Finishes for CNC Machined Steel Parts

We offer a wide range of surface finishes applicable to CNC steel.

Nickel Plating — Carbon steel can be evenly plated with nickel to improve its corrosion and wear resistance. The process is to add a 0.1 mm thick layer of nickel to the surface of the part.

Powder Coating — Powder coating creates a solid surface finish, typically between 0.006″ (0.1524mm) and 0.012″ (0.3048mm) thick. Since uncoated steel is prone to rust, steel can benefit from powder coating.

Carburizing Some steels can significantly improve their properties by carburizing. This process involves injecting additional carbon into the surface of a steel part during machining, increasing its hardness and wear resistance.
